“It is a pride that they chose Corrientes”, he underlined Claudio Anselmo, mProvincial Minister of Production. “This will be the most important event in 2021 for the breeding activity in the country. This national exhibition will put Corrientes in the sights of all of Argentina as a producing province: our objective is to attract investors to come and develop their activity here, ”he underlined.

Breeding in Corrientes
As explained by the organizers, in the province of Corrientes there are a large number of cattle ranches, especially of hybrid breeds. “Brahman is the ‘mother race’ which arrived in the 60s and then, from crosses with British breeds, it was possible to consolidate others which are today very recognized like Brangus and Braford” , they said.
In this sense, Anselmo added that one of the goals of the provincial government is further integrate the beef production chain.
“We must retain part of this annual production: that the animals are put back into circulation, fattened as much as possible, finished and slaughtered. This way you can add higher production value. Our goal is to generate more work, wealth and industrial activity in Corrientes ”, underlined the manager.
As expected, the challenge is related to the incorporation of technology improve livestock management and food availability.
“The breeding cycle in our province is mainly based on the use of natural pastures: a breeding plan has been in operation since 2010 which has gone through different stages. Initially, they tried to bring technology from other organizations (such as INTA) to producers ”.
Currently in Corrientes there are 25,000 establishments dedicated to breeding and most are small. In this sense, Anselmo specified “information to demystify belief in public opinion. Given that more than 20 thousand producers have less than 300 heads and make an almost subsistence herd, which is closely linked to the roots of the rural settlers distributed throughout the provincial territory, it is necessary to bring them closer together management technology tools which allow them to increase their level of production, which is low ”.
Finally, the provincial official mentioned the restrictions on the export of beef: “With the Governor Gustavo Valdés We have once again called for the export of meat to be completely open, because we must comply with international markets, which by buying, generate work, real dollars and a boost to the countryside ”.
