Dog shelter outside Arihant Ambar sparks dispute

Greater Noida: Instances of dog bites in Noida and Greater Noida have become a widespread problem in these areas in recent times. The question split people into two sections. There are people who are terrified of stray dogs because of so many cases of dog bites and there are dog lovers who are of the opinion that dogs should be allowed inside company premises .

A similar new conflict has erupted in Arihant Ambar, a residential company in Sector 1, GreNo. According to some locals, a few days ago a stray dog gave birth to five puppies. The dog lovers who fed this dog then made a temporary shelter for him and the green belt puppies outside of society. However, the shelter was removed by cops on Sunday evening October 30, 2022 after locals complained about the issue as they believe the green space is designated as a children’s play area.

Amit Gupta, the company’s general secretary, says, “Our company’s dog lovers have illegally encroached on some areas of the company’s greenbelt by approximately 15 by 20 feet and built a shelter for stray dogs. There are so many cases of dog bites that people are afraid to leave their children alone. No one feels safe so we called the cops to fix it. Just in case, if dog bites happened, no one will take the responsibility. No dog lover can bring the seven-month-old back to life who died in the Lotus Boulevard Society.”

Amit also adds that the maintenance team did not give any permission to dog lovers to create a dog shelter. “Dog lovers contacted us a week ago about the dog shelter, and we told them that we would let you know what could be done. They wanted to create a suitable place where even dog breeding could be done, and that’s not possible in a residential society where thousands of people are terrified of dogs,” he explains.

However, the dog lovers deny all the allegations and claim to have obtained clearance from the company’s maintenance department, who accepted it and are now denying the same.

Deepti Chhabra, one of the company’s dog lovers, says: “A few days ago a female dog gave birth to 5 puppies. The mother dog was in poor condition and needed care to protect and nurture them until they were adopted, the maintenance manager assigned us a spot.”

She also claims that plastic nets were placed to protect the puppies during the adoption process and that the plastic nets cannot be considered permanent structures. She also claims that a few members of the company destroyed the stray animal feeding point. The group of dog lovers are now demanding that the authority designate a convenient feeding place to avoid social unrest.
