Laois dog rescue charity announces public adoption day


A Laois dog rescue charity has announced its first public adoption day to be held in several years.

Cara Rescue Dogs, which is based in Mountmellick and serves the Midlands and beyond, offers dogs in good homes, but owners will be carefully checked before animals are released.

The day will take place at a local pet store in town, Fetch Your Pet Needs.

“It’s been a while but hopefully this will be the start of more to come. We’re teaming up with our friends at for an adoption day. Next SATURDAY 9TH JULY from 1pm. Come tell us hello, meet some of the team and our dogs available for adoption O’Moore Street, Mountmellick, Co. Laois,” the charity said.

They have seen a big increase in the number of unwanted dogs since the Covid pandemic.

Among those looking for a new home is adorable lurcher puppy Tasha, pictured.

“Tasha is still available for adoption. Like any young puppy, she will need basic training in the future (house, driving and socialization training. She will need someone to house almost all day. Also at this age and up to 6 months she can be nervous and nervous so keep that in mind if you are applying with children. Another dog in the house would be great for her because she is very shy. Tasha is fully vaccinated and microchipped. There is an adoption fee. Please only apply from you are soon ready to adopt without a holiday card,” says Cara.
