For its annual television special “The National Dog Show Presented by Purina”, NBC records the judging, examination and walking of all the breeds and varieties competing in the annual event so dog lovers and aficionados can see their breeds of interest up close.

The exclusive video is attracting great interest from enthusiasts around the world with a total of 212 breeds and varieties featured against the backdrop of the breed description audio from the PA announcer wayne fergusson, President of the Kennel Club of Philadelphia. This year, The National Dog Show will air in its Thanksgiving time slot, Thursday, Nov. 24 at noon in all time zones on NBC and Peacock.

What do judges look for at a dog show?

When the judges watch dogs at a dog show, they determine how closely the dog matches the “perfect” image as described by the official breed standard. Dogs are judged on their appearance against the breed standard, as well as their temperament and build.
