Vote for the UK’s favorite dog breed as 10 have been taken off the list

The competition for the top spot has been fierce with over 2,000 votes cast across the country so far.

Every Friday morning the 10 least popular breeds are taken out of competition, so make sure you don’t miss your chance to keep your favorite in the race.

The eliminated on Friday were Basset Fauve De Bretagne, Welsh Springers, Havanais, Poochon, Irish Setter, Maltipom, St Bernard, Irish Wolfhound, Pekingese and Afghan Hounds.

Ten more are now in the “dog room” section of the standings and risk being relegated later this week.

You can vote for the breed you prefer on our partner site Team Dogs.

Don’t worry if you’ve already participated – from today you will be able to register a second vote.

The current top 5 is:

1. Staffordshire Bull Terrier

2. Black Labrador

3. Boxer

4. Border Collie

5. Cockatoo

Our readers have had a lot to say for their favorite breeds.

Patricia Gartland Sherlock shared her appreciation for Boxers on Facebook: “They are the best breed of dog you can have. Our Mac was 12 when he died, he was gorgeous, loyal, such a good character and loved my 4 grandchildren. Nothing ever confused him. I miss him 7 years later.

Howard Thomas said: “Border Collie for me. There were about 12 in all at different times. So smart and loyal but needs a lot of exercise.

And Deborah Starman Ankers adds: “The German Shepherd has to take first place. The best dogs ever.

Make sure to support your favorite breed to keep them in the race. You can see the ranking and vote here.
